The data export tool prompts an error: root element is missing when trying to export from any CRM Online environments.

Hello,

I cannot reproduce this problem. Just tested it with a brand new online solution.
Can you send me the FetchXML for analysis ?

I realize this is an old thread so my apologies if I should post this as a new issue -- this one just doesn't seem to have be followed-up on so I thought I could provide more info towards its resolution.

I'm getting this same error -- "Error: Root element is missing" when I attempt to export from my CRM on-prem environment. The goal is to create data files for import to Dynamics 365 Online.

My on-prem is 2016, and I note that this tool says it supports 2011, 2013, 2015 so it might be as simple as that. However as the discussions seem current, I'm assuming there is or will eventually be 2016 support. Certainly hope that's on the roadmap if not currently supported.

Let me know what other information I can provide to assist with the troubleshooting. Thanks in advance for any help/advice.
